Professional Data Systems

Over 80% of projects in Malawi struggle to manage the volume, variety, and velocity of their data. Data management is an organizational endeavor that is ever changing in requirements, technology and presentation. The one constant is the need for accuracy, consistency and reliability. Infonex Malawi has years of high-volume, high-quality experience in validating education information across complex data environments, monitoring and resolving data inaccuracies and leveraging Information technology to ensure end users can depend on their data to drive learning and success.

Since 2016, Infonex Malawi has demonstrated consistent, high capability in deploying and managing MySQL, SQL Server, Android, Oracle, Excel databases for the MERIT Activity.

Infonex Malawi itself maintains:

  • An extensive MIS of 75,000+ primary school educators and education administrators with their contact information and over 800,000 training records.
  • A national GIS database with GPS coordinates of all primary schools, travel distances, and MoEST division, district and zone boundaries for data mapping.
  • Up to date data subsets, charts and longitudinal graphs of key education trends from successive EMIS Statistical Annuals.

At USAID request, Infonex developed and piloted a training attendance registration system that scans the QR code at the back of the national identification card (NIC) to extract selected information (ID number, first name, last name and gender). This Enhanced Accountable Daily Subsidy Allowance (DSA) system with MySQL backend mitigates the risk of fraud and enhances the timely payment of allowances. The system analyzes and reports multiple workshop attendances and highest meeting attendees in any given period. The use of this system together with the national ID markedly reduced the data entry of workshop participants.
